Khajuraho

The garden of extravagant craftsmanship

It was a thousand years ago, during 950 AD–1050 AD at a time when the Chandela Rajput kings reigned, that 85 magnificent, intricately carved temples were erected on a single site. Till date, 22 of these temples stand firm, defying the ravages of time. The famed erotic sculptures of Khajuraho — or Khajirvahila (Garden of dates) as it was known earlier — are regarded among the most celebrated works of art in the world.

When you check into the Lalit Temple View, the only five-star hotel in Khajuraho that offers an expansive view of the Western Group of Khajuraho temples, you’re treated to a stunning display of craftsmanship. As you tour the temples, the sheer magnitude of detailing strikes you instantly. In the evening, the sound and light show takes you back in time, when these marvels were first created as a stroke of genius.
