The Trekker’s Basecamp

A small Kumaoni hamlet, where the last motorable road to the Greater Himalayas ends, Munsiyari, holds a charm like none other. A sleepy village could hold so many awe inspiring experiences, is hard to imagine. A well kept secret among high altitude trekkers and wild life enthusiasts, it forms the base for treks to Milam, Ralam and Namik Glaciers. The star attraction here, undoubtedly are the group of five peaks, Panchchuli, named after the Pandavas from the largest epic ever, Mahabharata. They look like chimneys and are a  gorgeous treasure trove among the magnificent peaks of Nandadevi, Nandakot, Rajarambha of the Greater Himalayas. Get set to explore the lower reaches of the forest that are abalze with rhododendrons (Buransh), mountain birds like whistling thrush, wag tail, hawk, cuckoo, falcon, serpent eagle and more. And if you get lucky, you may even end up encountering the Big Cat.
